“The Silvery Tay is Scotland's largest and best known Salmon river, famous for its salmon, brown trout and grayling fishing. The river Tay and its tributary the Tummel, run through some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland. Lower Kinnaird is one of the best fly fishing beats on the Tay. In his book ‘The Great Salmon Rivers of Scotland’, the fishing author and exceptional angler, the late John Ashleigh-Cooper says of the River Tay “there is no better big fish river in Scotland” and particularly commends the Fir Trees Pool on the Lower Kinnaird beat. Ashleigh-Cooper describes how his party took 115 fish in a fortnight, in the autumn of 1983, fishing Lower Kinnaird, and he and his party continued to fish annually on Lower Kinnaird until his death.”
