Kinnaird's Hill lochs Trout and Pike fishing
The Kinnaird Trout and Pike Fishing Experience
Escape to the quiet beauty of Kinnaird’s hill lochs, where time slows and the only sound is the gentle ripple of water against the shore. Set high above the Tay Valley, Mill Pond and Loch Skiach offer a truly peaceful and immersive fishing experience in some of Perthshire’s most scenic surroundings.
These secluded hill lochs are home to natural brown trout and pike, providing rewarding sport for both the traditional fly angler and those seeking the thrill of predator fishing.
Wild Brown Trout Fishing
Mill Pond
Wild brown trout / Ideal for fly fishing / Boat and bank fishing available / Peaceful, uncrowded environment
Mill Pond is a beautifully situated hill loch, offering traditional trout fishing in a quiet and secluded setting. Home to wild brown trout, it provides rewarding sport for anglers who enjoy a more natural and considered approach.
The loch lends itself particularly well to fly fishing, with opportunities to fish from the bank or by boat. Its calm waters and open surroundings create ideal conditions for spotting rises and working the margins.
A day on Mill Pond is as much about the setting as the fishing — a chance to slow down, observe the water, and enjoy the rhythm of the landscape.
Pike Fishing
Loch Skiach
Pike fishing / Ideal for lure fishing / Boat and bank access / Dramatic, scenic setting
Loch Skiach offers a different kind of angling experience, known for its pike fishing in a striking and remote hill setting. These powerful fish provide exciting sport for those looking for a more dynamic day on the water.
The loch’s varied edges and deeper sections create excellent conditions for lure fishing, with plenty of opportunity to explore and cover water. Whether fishing from the bank or a boat, anglers can enjoy both the challenge and the thrill that pike bring.
Surrounded by open hill ground and expansive views, Loch Skiach combines action with atmosphere — a memorable destination for predator fishing.
The Ghillie
The Kinnaird beats have an experienced ghillie available to give lessons to beginners or advice to the more experienced angler.
Predominantly, Kinnaird is a fly fishing beat, however other fishing methods are permitted at the discretion of the head ghillie, Martin Edgar. Martin has worked on the Kinnaird water for over 10 years and his understanding of the beat is second to none. This is complimented by his enthusiasm and drive in delivering the perfect ‘client experience’.
